Officials in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Sustainability Office will host a pair of virtual town hall meetings at 6 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Saturday to give input on Chicago’s Climate Action Plan. The plan “will include strategies to address climate change while also improving air quality and health, increasing household savings, expanding green space and increasing green jobs here in the City of Chicago,” according to the announcement. Chicago Public Schools sent a nine-page letter to all district families on Thursday outlining its new agreed-upon COVID-19 safety policy, including to “test a minimum of 10% of students at each school every week.” Additionally, “There are now set metrics in place to determine when COVID-19 cases/quarantines may send an entire school into remote learning. If a school meets these thresholds, the school’s Safety Committee will make the decision on whether or not to transition the entire school to remote learning,” according to the announcement.
The University of Chicago Center for Effective Government at the Harris School of Public Policy announced its 2022 class of Civic Leadership Academy, comprising “30 of the area’s most promising government and nonprofit leaders,” the school announced. “The 2022 cohort includes 15 fellows from nonprofit organizations, eight from city government and seven from county government.

The Illinois Department of Corrections is “temporarily pausing” intakes from county jails as it responds to COVID-19 outbreaks at correctional facilities, it announced Tuesday. “These facilities include the Graham, Logan, Menard and Northern Reception and Classification Centers where county jails transport new admissions,” officials said. The department is “utilizing space normally reserved for new admissions to safely quarantine and isolate incarcerated individuals who have been exposed or tested positive for COVID-19.”

The Chicago Department of Public Health announced on Tuesday that it is extending “family vaccination clinics” at City Colleges of Chicago between Jan. 22 and Feb. 27. The events “will offer pediatric COVID-19 Pfizer vaccines, as well as the Pfizer vaccine for those age 12 and up, and booster doses to all eligible Chicagoans,” according to the announcement. The full list of available sites and registration are available online.
The Chicago Department of Public Health did not add or remove any states or territories from its COVID-19 Travel Advisory since last week, it announced Tuesday. For the second consecutive week, every U.S. state and four territories are on the advisory.
