Facts matter — especially these days. The statement I made in the press recently was direct and to the point. A proposed bill with provisions regarding sharing personal medical information would violate individuals’ constitutional protections. I stand by my position on the bill. However, I will not defend or comment on statements, positions and wild conclusions drawn from an article which are the creation of others, and now are falsely being attributed to me. As someone who, for many years, has had a public record of civility and has seen contentious public debate, both at the local and state levels, I expect respectful discourse on issues before the House, on and off the floor, and I will continue that practice. Finally, as a father of 5 daughters, I rebuke all who harass or threaten anyone in public service — it is never appropriate or acceptable.”
