Gov. JB Pritzker is proposing a $56 billion spending plan for fiscal year 2027 that includes a new social media tax but does not include a tax on millionaires proposed by some Illinois Democrats.

Gov. JB Pritzker’s 2026 legislative priorities include a statewide zoning law that would overhaul how zoning is managed in the state and new initiatives to increase and preserve electricity generation in the state.
Those include a new framework to build nuclear power plants in a shorter timeframe and a two-year pause on tax credits to data centers.
