Ward Reports October 21, 2024

Ald. Raymond Lopez (15) posted "It’s easy politically to say cut the City Council - especially when many alds show no real value to the average Chicagoan. However the overdue conversation is when will the city move beyond a govt built on tradition and precedent to one operating based on a charter with delineated authority. NYC has a city charter and regular review commission that keeps the govt structure functional and relevant with proposed binding referendums that allow voters to have a direct say on the city’s structure."

Ald. Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth (48) posted "Thanks to everyone who came out to our open house about Broadway land use! Visit our blog to read more and to fill out a survey. https://the48thward.org/blog/broadway-land-use-recap"

Ald. Gilbert Villegas (36) posted about city's RFI to replace Shotspotter: "The current RFI is not adequate. It seems as though @ChicagosMayor’s administration is sluggishly going through the motions. I ask that the process be halted, revamped, and done with more assurance of objectivity."
