Ward Reports November 8, 2024

Ald. Bill Conway (34) posted "With commercial property values falling, residential taxes will increase naturally - and landlords will pass those higher costs on to renters. Now isn't the time to squeeze $300 million more in property taxes."

Ald. Timmy Knudsen (43) posted "Today I joined the call for a City Council Meeting next Weds. to reject the Mayor's proposed property tax increase that places too heavy a burden on Chicagoans. Let me be clear: This is an effort to pass a balanced budget. To do so, we need to negotiate from a place of reality."

Ald. Brendan Reilly (42) posted "Almost 60% of the City Council has signed-on to a call for a vote on the Mayor’s Proposed FY25 Property Tax Increase next Wednesday. It’s time to reject the property tax increase ASAP, so we can negotiate a real budget that actually has a prayer of passing before the end of 2024."

Ald. Debra Silverstein (50) posted "Thank you to @HilleryJewell and @WGNNews for this important report on the dangers of unregulated lithium-ion batteries. My new ordinance, which passed this year, requires e-bikes and electric scooters to use only safe, UL or EN tested batteries. It will go a long way towards curbing e-battery fires in Chicago and keeping our residents safe. https://wgntv.com/news/lithium-ion-battery-fires-on-the-rise-chicago-fire-department-takes-action/"
