Mayor Brandon Johnson tweeted "What an amazing way to start my first day in office, surrounded by community. Let it be known, the fifth floor belongs to the people and I’m here to listen. Now let's get to work, Chicago!"

Ald. Nicole Lee (11) said on Facebook "🎉 Today marks the start of Mayor Johnson's administration and a new term for Chicago City Council! Our government has never been more diverse, and I’m humbled to serve the community where I was born and raised and to represent the first ever Asian-majority ward. There is more work to be done, and I am ready to fight for all of my neighbors as your 11th Ward Alderwoman."
