Ward Reports June 13, 2024
Ald. Brendan Reilly (42) posted "So, City Council is supposed to start promptly at 10:00AM. For the fourth meeting in a row we are starting late, waiting on the Mayor. I’m guessing being stuck in “hair and makeup” is to blame."
Ald. Rossana Rodriguez-Sanchez (33) posted "Congratulations to the volunteers and healthcare workers who organized for today’s City Council decision to permit a quiet zone in front of the Family Planning Associates. Nobody should be subject to harassment, judgement and ridicule when walking into a clinic."
Ald. Gilbert Villegas (36) posted "I’m grateful to my colleague @AldConway for bringing this matter before City Council. Those seeking reproductive healthcare services should be able to do so without being accosted and providers should be able to conduct their work free of interruption."
Ald. Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth (48) posted "It’s not complicated. Chicago defends abortion! Proud to be a member of City Council that will fight for healthcare and bodily autonomy for all. Thank you to allies, advocates and Ald. Conway for putting forward this ordinance."
Ald. Daniel La Spata (1) posted "Folks waiting for affordable housing at Humboldt Park United Methodist Church and the rehabilitation of the Hollander Building will have to wait another month. Today, my colleagues from the 15th and 17th Wards deferred ordinances that would have accomplished both. But as a sign of good faith, I invite Ald. @RaymondALopez and Ald. Moore to meet up with me in the 1st Ward and see these projects for themselves. If they have good faith concerns, let's talk about them."
