Ward Reports January 9, 2025

Ald. Timmy Knudsen (43) posted "Today, I chatted civics with 10th graders at Francis Parker. We focused on the topic of immigration, and the role the City plays in their everyday lives. My highlight is always the chance to answer their questions, which help me better understand what students are going through. It also helps me understand what concerns them, and how I can be a better advocate for them in City Hall. Special thanks to Ms. Ifft and Mr. Zhang, Parker’s Civic Lab Coordinators. The future is bright!"

Ald. Raymond Lopez (15) posted "Yesterday @AldermanTabares and I filed a Rule 41 Notice for our proposed amendment to the Welcoming City Ordinance. We intend to call the matter for a floor vote next Wednesday. We believe that the best way to protect law-abiding non-citizens from the returning Trump Administration is by working with them in apprehending their priority targets: non-citizens that CHOOSE to engage in dangerous, illegal activity once they are in the United States.  Our current WCO prohibits any coordination or cooperation, even in the most heinous situations."

Ald. Brendan Reilly (42) posted "Mayor Johnson remains on ‘union leave’ as a ‘CPS teacher’ while negotiating (by proxy) across the bargaining table from…CTU. Over what? Comp & benefits for…CPS teachers."
