Ward Reports January 20, 2022

Ald. Roderick Sawyer (6) shared on Instagram that he “stopped by Tanner Elementary School on MLK Jr Day of Service in support of ChiGivesBack and its volunteers.”

Ald. Raymond Lopez (15) tweeted, “I’ve called for his [Chicago Police Department Supt. David Brown’s] resignation multiple times over the last year because I saw the writing on the wall with his leadership style. Brown is a failure. How many lives lost while waiting for everyone else to catch up?”

Ald. Rossana Rodriguez-Sanchez (33) tweeted, “FYI: 26 co-sponsors for bills to come out of Rules is made up. Bills sponsored by one single alder have gotten out of committee. 26 co-sponsors would mean that a bill needs to have a majority of support BEFORE going 2 the committee it belongs to for discussion. #Dysfunctional”

Ald. Matt Martin (47) announced that his office had approved a zoning change for a mixed-use development at 3528 N. Ashland Ave., tweeting that the decision “is the first development our office approved using our new sustainability matrix to guide zoning decisions in a way that's consistent our office's priority on addressing the climate emergency.”

Ald. Harry Osterman (48) tweeted, “Congrats to Simon’s Tavern on being named one of Chicago’s best neighborhood bars by @ChicagoMag! Stop by and say congrats to Scotty when you’re nearby!”
