Ward Reports December 22, 2023

Ald. Timmy Knudsen (43) posted "Ed Burke served 54 years, 21 years longer than I’ve been alive. Entrenchment often leads to corruption, and Chicago needs term limits. I look forward to working on that in 2024"

Ald. Andre Vasquez (40) posted "I’ve got a cut at CTA I’d recommend (and have recommended). We need a new CTA President. Now."

Ald. Matt Martin (47) posted "Elected officials have a responsibility to put the public’s interest before personal gain. Today’s verdict affirms that Ald Burke failed to live up to that responsibility by using his office to enrich himself & friends, thereby imperiling Chicagoans’ trust in their govt. In recent years, Chicagoans have made clear they won’t tolerate this type of backroom, pay-to-play politics. I’m glad that, following Ald Burke’s indictment, City Council passed a suite of ethics reforms as part of a broader push to rebuild trust with the communities we serve. As Chair of the Ethics Committee, I remain as committed as ever to working with my colleagues to enforce our ethics laws. We must also pass systemic reforms that strengthen accountability and transparency and that put an end to pay-to-play politics in Chicago."

Ald. Raymond Lopez (15) posted "Look who finally showed up in Chicago to discuss the growing migrant crisis! Your words @RepChuyGarcia ring hollow when you say you 'support the call for additional resources.' If you knew how to do your job, you would introduce a bill to make that happen."

Ald. Jessie Fuentes (26) posted "What Governor Abbot is doing is criminal. This is human trafficking, the federal government must hold him accountable!"
