Ward Reports December 14, 2023

Ald. Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth (48) posted "Today, City Council passed two of our resolutions that we cosponsored with Mayor Brandon Johnson recognizing and celebrating anniversaries for two trailblazing LGBTQ+ organizations: the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus and Chicago Dragons Rugby Football Club!"

Ald. Raymond Lopez (15) posted "Color me shocked: mayoral allies Ald. Rodriguez & Ald. Vasquez send my order rescinding the Migrant Crisis Emergency Order signed by Lightfoot to the Rules Committee, continuing the adage of never letting a crisis go to waste!"

Ald. Maria Hadden (49) posted "Thank you to everyone who showed up for the “Rally to so NO for arbitration” this morning! Maria voted NAY to closed door hearings for police misconduct cases resulting in firings or suspensions up to a year or more."

Ald. Daniel La Spata (1) posted "I know what Council rules say about disruption and civil disobedience, but what is the proper response to watching thousands of civilians die and hundreds of thousands displaced? #CEASEFIRE_NOW"

Ald. Julia Ramirez (12) posted "Traffic safety improvements are being installed on Pershing Rd from Archer to Damen, including a protected bike lane and concrete curb extensions. This project will improve the comfort and safety for all people on the street, as well as access to McKinley Park."

Ald. Matt Martin (47) posted "Today, I voted “no” on the proposed collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). When this CBA was last presented to the City Council in 2021, civil rights groups highlighted the absence of critical accountability policies. Although two years have passed, none of those shortcomings have been addressed. On a day when the City Council approved nearly $11 million to settle just two police misconduct suits, it remains critical that the City strengthen its accountability system so allegations of officer misconduct are investigated timely, thoroughly, and transparently."
