Ward Reports December 06, 2023
Ald. Daniel La Spata (1) posted "Revenue Idea: Compel Amazon to actually buy city stickers for their fleet!🚛 That's right: for FIVE years Amazon has refused to buy city stickers for their vehicles, either individually or through their BC-11 Large Volume Purchasers program. If UPS can, Amazon can too‼️"
Ald. Gilbert Villegas (36) posted "Beyond livid! @ChicagoDOT just completed the Grand Ave bike lane and low and behold, @ChicagoWater decides to start ripping up the brand-new bike lanes and street! Never mind the fact that the surface was exposed for 3 months before being resurfaced. Incompetence on full display"
Ald. Ruth Cruz (30) posted "Just outside the 30th Ward, opened by a longtime Belmont Cragin resident Julie Alleyne. Shop local this holiday season! #shoplocal #supportsmallbusinesses"
Ald. Desmon Yancy (5) posted "Thank you Principal Charles Bright for giving me a tour of Brett Harte school, and allowing me to meet some of your wonderful students. Continue to do an amazing job. #AlderYancy5 #HydePark #CPS"
Ald. Julia Ramirez (12) posted "Today Governor Pritzker’s administration announced that the State of Illinois will not be proceeding with supporting the migrant base camp at 38th and California following recommendations from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA). After reviewing the environment report released by the City of Chicago, the IEPA cited concerns related to insufficient soil sampling and remediation. The State and City will work together to find an alternate site yet to be determined. I appreciate the state taking this precaution to ensure that we fulfill our collective responsibility to safeguard the health and safety of immigrant families and the Brighton Park community. I will continue to advocate for a transparent process from the city that considers our responsibility to both new arrivals and residents of the 12th Ward. I know that issue has divided our community and our city, so I want to make sure that we use this experience to come together to heal and plan for a better 12th Ward for everyone. As your Alderwoman I am committed to bringing our community together. Please stay connected with my office by visiting our website at www.the12thward.org"
