Ward Reports August 02, 2023

Ald. Andre Vasquez (40) tweeted "Biagi helped get more protected bike lanes, safe streets infrastructure, more public open spaces, and more than had been happening before she showed up. I HOPE our next Commissioner can match and surpass that energy and vision!"

Ald. Raymond Lopez (15) tweeted "When will the media challenge how we can spend $9 Billion annually on a public education system that creates students that cannot read or do math (20% & 15% proficiencies respectively)?"

Ald. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa (35) tweeted "I joined @SEIUhciimk @LorettoHospital workers on the picket line today as they fight for a fair contract! It was great to see so many elected officials and community members stand with the union."

Comm. Sean Morrison (R-17) tweeted in response to a Chicago Tribune editorial calling for a city tourism campaign to stress safety: "🚨Not sure what elected officials need to hear this? What did they expect? Most Democrat leaders spent the past 4-5 years maligning Law enforcement and the idea of societal norms and rule of law! Public safety and the rule of law is the bedrock of any sustainable society. It is unrealistic to believe innumerable entrepreneurs and Fortune 500 corporations will make meaningful investments in communities strife with lawlessness! Chicago is a world class city, sadly currently experiencing some of its lowest days. However, with political courage and the will to focus on accountability for the bad actors and public safety, Chicago can be restored to the best city in America!"
