Ward Reports April 17, 2024
Ald. Julia Ramirez (12) posted "This past weekend, we collaborated with BYNC, BPNC & One Summer Chicago to host One Summer Chicago Workshop at Burroughs Elementary School. We assisted residents with registration and showed them the different job opportunities that One Summer Chicago offers."
Ald. Matt Martin (47) posted "🚃 In February, I met with CTA President Dorval Carter about one of the most pressing concerns I hear from residents: the CTA's unreliability. Since 2019, the CTA has reduced Brown Line service by nearly 30%. This is unacceptable. Pres. Carter assured me that the CTA would be increasing the frequency of service across the City in the spring. The CTA's newest schedule increases Brown Line service by only 1%, while reducing service on the Red, Green, Orange, Pink, and Yellow lines (per @ctaaction data). Why is the CTA struggling to hire when NYC, DC, and SF have met or exceeded their pre-pandemic staffing levels? Current leadership is failing Chicago riders. Mayor Johnson and Governor Pritzker should appoint a new board and a new president should lead the CTA to recovery."
Ald. Jessie Fuentes (26) posted "⭐️ This past weekend, I joined the former Gov. Pat Quinn, Congresswoman Delia Ramirez, Sen. Sara Feigenholtz and other community partners as we celebrated the Grand opening of LoSAH Center of Hope."
Ald. Raymond Lopez (15) posted "We understand “reality” and it is this: Chicago has pocketed budget surpluses that should have been reinvested back into our communities or, at the very least, given back to taxpayers. Instead, those millions are being targeted to cover migrant expenses that @POTUS & @congressdotgov should be covering."
