Ward Reports April 11, 2024

Ald. Matt Martin (47) posted "Vehicle speeds are directly correlated with the level of danger of vehicle crashes, which took the lives of 127 Chicagoans in 2022. Two of those deaths occurred in our 47th Ward, when drivers killed beloved members of our community on both arterial and resident streets. That's why I co-sponsored Ald. La Spata's resolution to host a committee hearing on 4/11 to discuss lowering Chicago's default speed limit. Let's follow the lead of LA, DC, NYC, and even Evanston, to make our streets safer for all users."

Ald. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa (35) posted "It would be grand if Chicago brought back our surface line streetcars, like the line on Fullerton Avenue! Or, at minimum, if our city implemented bus rapid transit on major arterial streets like Fullerton and Western Avenues."

Ald. Bill Conway (34) posted about the proposed charity open-swim on the Chicago River: "I don’t necessarily oppose it, in fact had a recent death in the family from ALS. My concern was about DCASE’s involvement in an event that will affect residents of the 34th ward without coordination with my office or @AldReilly’s office. Finding out that the organizers announced this event without coordination with @ChicagoDCASE was shocking!"
