The Daily Line nominated for Lisagor awards in government reporting, multimedia collaboration

The Daily Line received two nominations for Peter Lisagor Awards, which are given annually by the Chicago Headline Club in recognition of excellence in Chicago-area journalism.

The Daily Line was nominated alongside the Better Government Association, Chalkbeat Chicago, The Chicago Reporter, La Raza and The Triibe in the category of Best Multimedia Collaboration for the year-long Lens on Lightfoot project. Lens on Lightfoot comprised 53 articles between 2019 and 2020, all with the same goal of holding Mayor Lori Lightfoot accountable to her campaign promises. The Daily Line contributed 12 articles in the series, all written by Heather Cherone, Alex Nitkin or Hannah Meisel.

One article in the series, focusing on how Lightfoot’s housing policies measured up to her campaign platform, was independently nominated for a Lisagor Award. Nitkin’s article “Residents await Lightfoot’s master plan on affordable housing as citywide crisis deepens” was a finalist for Best Political and Government Reporting in a publication with circulation less than 100,000.

The Headline Club plans to announce the winners during a virtual event on May 14. The full list of finalists is available online.
