    Gov. JB Pritzker signed a bill Tuesday to create the Department of Early Childhood as early childhood development and education remains a top priority of the governor’s second term.  

    “We can create an Illinois where no outcome is predetermined by race or ZIP code or socioeconomic status,” Pritzker said. “That all starts in these earliest years. Today is just one, but an important one, a major milestone step forward for our state.”

    A busy June trying to attract international businesses to Illinois continued for Gov. JB Pritzker on Monday as the second term governor used his role as Illinois’ chief marketing officer to try to attract more investments to Illinois as governors from other states made similar pitches.

    The U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling Friday morning that could allow an initiative by domestic violence advocates to move forward in Illinois and ensure guns are taken out of dangerous domestic disputes.

    The State Board of Elections decided Tuesday that former Republican candidate for governor Darren Bailey and right-wing radio host and super PAC leader Dan Proft did not illegally coordinate during the 2022 campaign.

    Nine of the 12 members of the Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability (CGFA) failed to attend Friday’s hearing to vote on a recommendation to the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) plan to demolish and rebuild the Stateville and Logan prisons. 

    Though no formal recommendations have been made by state legislators charged with reviewing state facility closures, those who did participate in hearings offered specific steps IDOC should take as they consider their options for the prisons.
