Famed television producer Dick Wolf and Gov. JB Pritzker had never met before the two sat down two months ago to discuss the future of Wolf’s slate of Chicago-set shows and the state’s film tax credit.

“I said, ‘look, I have to tell you, if the tax credit goes, we have to go,’” Wolf said Thursday at a Chicago bill signing ceremony for the extension of the credit. “It [was] not an idle threat. Without the tax credit, we would not be able to be here.”

Wolf declared himself “vastly relieved” to be at Thursday’s ceremonial signing of SB 1595, which extends the Illinois Film Production Tax Credit Act, originally passed in 2008, until 2026.
