    Police, firefighters ask lawmakers for more mental health resources

    The Chicago Police Department put out a video last year urging officers to seek mental health assistance if they are suffering from PTSD or any other issues as a result of stresses from their job.     Representatives of police and firefighters — accompanied by those who have had family members die by suicide while working as a first responder — asked lawmakers for more assistance with mental health resources for their ranks on Wednesday, which was also World Mental Health Day.
