• Tense debate over how commissioners should ask the federal government for help addressing violence dominated the day at the Cook County Board Wednesday. Changes to increase FOIA accountability and a new role for the Chicago-Cook Workforce Partnership to help tax break recipients fill vacancies were also approved. And as Board President Toni Preckwinkle again admonished President Donald Trump for his rhetoric, she and other Democratic commissioners introduced new measures aimed at protecting the county's immigrants.
