Both Cook County Comm. Jessica Vásquez (D-8), who is running to keep her appointed seat on the County Board of Commissioners this election season, and her primary opponent, Nicholas Cade, have managed to raise tens of thousands of dollars in the primary fight.

The incumbent commissioner has criticized the number of out-of-state residents donating to Cade, who has defended himself by saying that he has relied on friends and family for much of his campaign cash.
