The City Council Committee on License and Consumer Protection on Tuesday will consider multiple measures affecting the allowance of liquor and package goods licenses across the city.
The meeting will occur as a recent downtown shooting led the local alderman to call on the city to revoke the license for the nightclub where the incident occurred.
The committee will meet at 10:30 a.m. in Room 201A at City Hall.

The City Council Committee on Workforce Development on Monday will consider a resolution to support the Paul Simon Jobs Corps Center, as the technical school faces closure as part of a broader shutdown by the Trump administration, and to urge continued funding for the federal program, which is over 60 years old and operates across the country.
The committee is slated to meet at 10 a.m. in council chambers.

The City Council’s immigration committee on Tuesday held a hearing on potential violations of the Welcoming City Ordinance during an immigration operation several weeks ago and approved an order calling on city and Chicago Police Department (CPD) officials to provide all relevant data and communications surrounding the incident.
The hearing was light on specific details and exposed a lack of official procedure for investigating the alleged violations, leading some alderpeople to urge more expediency from the city in providing answers as they seek to protect their own constituents from similar operations they expect to keep happening.

The city on Monday released the 2024 Chicago Police Department (CPD) Litigation Report, which is published annually in accordance with the requirements of the federal consent decree over CPD. The annual report details the total amount paid out as a result of civil lawsuits in a given calendar year.

Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle announced the launch of the second phase of the county’s down payment assistance program on Wednesday. The program provides subsidies to homebuyers equal to 5 percent of a home's sale price, up to $25,000, to help people buy single-family homes, townhouses or condominiums.
