    The City Council on Wednesday approved a new aviation commissioner and new director of the Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC), and it codified experience-based hiring standards for certain city jobs and approved new regulations for short-term rental units.

    However, the council postponed a final vote on an ordinance that would allow the police superintendent to declare “snap curfews,” which is aimed at preventing or responding to potentially unruly large gatherings of teens.
