Mayor Brandon Johnson announced Wednesday that the city's Crisis Assistance Response and Engagement program, which responds to mental and behavioral health crisis calls, will transition into an entirely public health-staffed team, eliminating its previous law enforcement team members, which had been Crisis Intervention Team-trained Chicago Police officers.
