Mayor Brandon Johnson announced on Sunday the city had issued a request for information (RFI) from companies that can provide some form of emergency responder alert technology to replace ShotSpotter, which went offline Sunday night. The RFI will aim to find out how the city can "deploy resources on the most effective strategies and tactics proven to accelerate the current downward trend in violent crime," the mayor said in the announcement. "We have to explore better options that save more lives."
