Chicago Announcements September 21, 2023

The city of Chicago on Wednesday filed a lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against Monsanto, three of its corporate successors and a local distributer for their release of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) into Chicago's air, water and soil, Mayor Brandon Johnson and the city's Corporation Counsel Mary Richardson-Lowry announced in a news release. The city of Chicago in the lawsuit alleges that Monsanto released the PCBs in Chicago and "misled the public despite knowing the PCBs are dangerous contaminant that have been found to cause significant harm to humans and the environment," according to the news release.
