The Chicago Advisory Redistricting Commission will host a virtual news conference at 12:30 p.m. Monday to unveil the first draft of their independent ward map proposal. Members of the commission “will discuss the community input they received, how they pursued a transparent and inclusive process to design the map and invite further input regarding future revisions,” according to the announcement.
The Chicago Public Library is adding Sunday hours to 11 additional branches, making 45 library branches that will be open on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The branches that will extend their hours are Austin-Irving, Bucktown-Wicker Park, Oriole Park, Rogers Park, Uptown, West Town, Canaryville, Walker, Bessie Coleman, Greater Grand Crossing and Hegewisch.
The group United Northwest Side is hosting a protest outside Ald. Jim Gardiner’s (45) office in Jefferson Park at 6 p.m. “45th Ward Alderperson Jim Gardiner is unfit to serve,” the event description reads. “His record of misogyny, intimidation, and retaliation against constituents who dare to disagree with him shows that he doesn't deserve to represent us.”
