Deputy Mayor for Education, Youth and Human Services Jen Johnson announced on social media Tuesday she was leaving the role after taking an indefinite leave of absence last month. 

The Forest Preserves of Cook County now holds over 70,000 acres of land after the Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to purchase a 68-acre plot of land along Deer Creek in unincorporated Cook County from the nonprofit Conservation Fund, according to a news release. The approval brought the total amount of preserves land to 70,042 acres.
