Chicago Announcements November 01, 2024

The mayor’s recently appointed Chicago Board of Education president, Rev. Mitchell I. Johnson, resigned Thursday after previous antisemitic, misogynistic and conspiratorial comments made on social media surfaced. “My administration is committed to upholding the mission of transforming our public education system,” Mayor Brandon Johnson said in a statement. “It has become clear that [Rev. Johnson’s] continued participation in the BOE would hinder the important work we need to accomplish for our schools.”
