Mayor Brandon Johnson announced Tuesday the appointment of Kennedy Bartley to a newly created position, managing deputy for external relations. In the new role, Bartley will utilize her organizing and community service experience to serve as a liaison between the city and labor unions, community groups, elected officials and other external stakeholders, according to the mayor's office.

Visit Chicago Southland announced Tuesday that President and CEO Jim Garrett will retire at the end of June. Garrett has held the position since 1996.
