Suburban Cook County has moved into the Centers for Disease Control’s “medium risk” category for COVID-19 because its daily average of new cases crossed 200 per 100,000 residents, the Cook County Department of Public Health announced on Friday. Chicago Department of Public Health Comm. Allison Arwady wrote in a news release Friday that while the city has not yet entered the “medium risk” category, she expects it to do so “soon.” Arwady said she sees the shift as a “yellow light of caution,” especially for people who are unvaccinated.
