Chicago Announcements May 16, 2023

The city of Chicago and the Department of Law announced on Monday they had filed a lawsuit against Sun Badger Solar and the company's co-founders Trevor Sumner and Kristopher Sipe after an investigation found they influenced dozens of customers to make up-front deposits for residential solar panel systems. But Sun Badger, which was experiencing financial ruin, was not able to install the solar panels and was alleged to have falsely said the delays were attributed to the city, according to a news release from the law department. With the lawsuit, the city is seeking a judgement against the solar panel company and want to compel them to stop doing business in Chicago and be required to pay a fine for each municipal code violation.
