CTA annual ridership grew from 196 million rides in 2021 to 243.5 million rides in 2022 with bus ridership growing by 19 percent during that same time period and rail ridership growing by 32 percent, the transit agency announced in a news release Wednesday. CTA reported that ridership is continuing to grow this year with March 11 setting a record high for Saturday ridership numbers when more than 660,000 rides occurred, representing a 23 percent increase from the same holiday weekend in 2022.
