Mayor Brandon Johnson on Monday announced the city's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events will receive a $6.8 million grant from the Mellon Foundation to build eight new monuments, including the Chicago Torture Justice Memorial. Additional monuments are set to honor, among others, Mother Jones, Rekia Boyd and Pilsen Latina Histories, according to a news release from Johnson.
