Chicago Announcements June 07, 2024

Mayor Brandon Johnson on Thursday announced the extension of Chicago Public Schools’ Chicago Connected Program and the Chicago Park District’s Citywide Broadband and Digital Equity Initiative, which both help expand free internet access to disinvested communities in Chicago. The programs have provided internet access to more than 40,000 CPS students and families and implemented public wi-fi 60 parks on the South and West sides. The extensions announced Thursday will include a one-year extension of the Chicago Connected Program and the expansion of the Citywide Broadband and Digital Equity Initiative to 100 additional parks.
