Mayor Brandon Johnson announced on Tuesday the appointment of Julie Hernandez-Tomlin as commissioner of the Department of Fleet and Facility Management. Hernandez-Tomlin has almost 20 years of experience at the city and has held leadership positions with both the Chicago Department of Water Management and Department of Streets and Sanitation, according to a news release. She has also been executive vice president of business affairs for SPAAN Tech Inc.
Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Iris Martinez announced Tuesday the creation of an "Expungement Department" within the circuit court clerk's office. The department's purpose will be to enhance "access to justice and transparency" for county residents, according to a news release. A news conference revealing more details is scheduled for Feb. 15 at the George N. Leighton Criminal Court Building at 2600 S. California Ave. in Chicago.
Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas announced Tuesday that Univision Chicago broadcast journalist Erika Maldonado will lead Spanish-language outreach efforts to county taxpayers on behalf of the treasurer's office.
