Mayor Brandon Johnson announced Thursday the creation of the New Neighbors Campaign, "a new initiative aimed at standardizing and simplifying the volunteer process to support new arrivals," his office said in a news release. The new migrant assistance initiative, launched last week, will connect volunteers with service opportunities and was created in partnership with the Mayor's Office of Immigrant, Migrant and Refugee Rights; the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services; the Chicago Department of Public Health; and mutual aid partners such as ChicagoCares, Chicago Refugee Coalition and AmeriCorps VISTA.
