On Wednesday, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and the County Bureau of Asset Management announced the Facilities Management Engineer Trainee Program in partnership with IUOE Local 399 to provide trainees with experience in operational and stationary engineering at county facilities. The program will provide 20 trainees with skills over a three-year period so that they meet licensing qualifications and standards. The program is American Rescue Plan Act-funded and will cost the county $1.8 million a year, according to a news release.
