Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced on Tuesday that she appointed Mamadou Diakhate as the administrator of Cook County’s Department of Animal and Rabies Control. Diakhate's appointment comes one day after Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced Diakhate had left his post as executive director of Chicago Animal Care and Control.
