Mayor Lori Lightfoot, the city’s Department of Public Health and the Community Coordination Center on Monday launched a new $275,000 Emergency Supplemental Victims’ Fund pilot program. The new pilot is expected to give financial help to people directly affected by gun violence and will “focus on alleviating the immediate financial impacts of shooting incidents by providing financial assistance in set amounts to survivors and their families,” according to a news release from Lightfoot’s office. The program is set to begin in East Garfield Park, West Garfield Park, Englewood, West Englewood and New City.
