Chicago Announcements December 15, 2023

On Thursday, the Chicago Board of Education approved the appointment of Joshua Long as the school district’s new chief of the Office of Diverse Learner Supports and Services, according to a news release. Long is the principal of Southside Occupational Academy and previously worked for CPS as a speech-language pathologist. While serving as principal, Long helped create the Career and Community Connections (C3) Hub, a school that combines community-based internships with the promotion of public transportation. Long also helped lobby for a change to the Illinois School Code to allow students with disabilities to remain in school through the end of the academic year in which they turn 22.
