The Chicago Department of Public Health issued an alert on Wednesday of a syphilis outbreak “among older heterosexual men in the Far South Side Roseland community area.” Department data for 2020 indicate that there were 919 reported syphilis cases in the City of Chicago, which represents a 13 percent increase from the same period of 2019.
