Chicago Department of Transportation Comm. Gia Biagi on Monday announced she is resigning her position effective Aug. 11. Biagi has led the city's transportation department since she was appointed in December 2019 and has facilitated "hundreds of innovative transportation projects citywide, creating a nation-leading strategic plan focused on safe, sustainable, and efficient mobility options and building equity into its daily operations," according to a news release from the department. Biagi has a background in urban planning and design and will be "pursuing new opportunities, to be announced at a later date," according to the news release.
