Ward Reports May 19, 2022

Ald. George Cardenas (12) tweeted “Our economy keeps reinventing itself out of necessity but we are not keeping up with the needs of those being left out by drastic and unstoppable forces. I'm running for BOR commissioner to tackle those problems facing businesses and individual homeowners. We can make it work!”

Ald. Raymond Lopez (15) tweeted “We have money for 110 cameras at UC but local @Chicago_Police districts had to beg aldermen across this city for menu money to buy extra cameras?”

Ald. Matt O’Shea (19) tweeted “The 19th Ward Quarterly will be mailed this week to every home & business in Beverly, Morgan Park and Mt Greenwood. Check it out to see all that is happening in the 19th Ward. Please visit http://mattoshea.net and sign up to receive regular community updates via email.”

Ald. Rossana Rodriguez-Sanchez (33) tweeted “Remember when CTU was fighting for housing supports and people were yelling that it was outrageous that they were asking for that? Now our schools are losing enrollment cause families can’t afford to live in their communities. Grateful for leaders who fight for what’s right.”

Ald. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa (35) tweeted “I'm a HELL NO on Mayor Lightfoot's latest stupid proposal. Studies show that juvenile curfew laws are ineffective and can lead to more violence and crime. Chicago desperately needs safety policies rooted in reality and evidence, not more ‘I'm tough on crime’ posturing and stunts.”

Ald. Gilbert Villegas (36) tweeted “In a briefing asking questions on how the Chicago Casino will benefit Chicago residents, taxpayers and our community. This is a multibillion dollar investment and our communities need to be at the table and not on the menu. The Chicago Casino will bring in much needed revenue to fund our pensions that have historically been underfunded for years as well as create revenue to fund our budget. We need to get this right and make sure that we are analyzing this proposal with a fine tooth comb. #whatstherush”

Ald. Andre Vasquez (40) tweeted “Join us this Saturday as we show our support for the workers in the 40th that are organizing to form a union!!! Let’s be the first in the city!!”

Ald. Harry Osterman (48) tweeted “I am deeply committed to preserving the historic Epworth Church building. I am working with the City of Chicago’s Commission on Chicago Landmarks to landmark Epworth and ensure it will not be demolished.”

Ald. Maria Hadden (49) tweeted “Right now it’s likely that everyone knows someone who has Covid. This is because Chicago is in our third-largest spike, to date. While according to Dr. Arwady the City won't require masking until hospitalizations are “high enough”, we're 2 weeks away from hitting the highest transmission levels under CDC guidelines and officials are urging individuals to mask indoors despite what local officials require.”
