Ward Reports february 04, 2022

Ald. Patrick Daley Thompson (11) tweeted, “12th Ward Alderman Cardenas and I would like to thank the Chicago Department of Transportation and the Department of Streets and Sanitation for working around the clock to clear our city bridges. Shout out to our constituents who are all pitching in for the greater good.”

Ald. Raymond Lopez (15) tweeted, “Two decades ago the Black Caucus sued over one seat: 18th Ward. They cost taxpayers $20M only to have a white alderman win anyway. Does she consider them to be cry babies then? No, they were fighting for their right to be represented. And we shall do the same.”

Ald. Gilber Villegas (36) tweeted, “I stand with Coach Brian Flores as he fights for fair representation in the NFL. Coach Flores was born and raised in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, New York City to Honduran parents.”

Ald. Andre Vasquez (40) tweeted that the Chicago ward remap “isn’t about race, it’s about data, transparency, and fairness. It is no ones interest, except the status quo, to have two protected classes divided. Chicago is better than that.

Ald. Michele Smith (43) tweeted, “As a Jewish woman, these last few weeks have been very difficult. I watched with horror as an 11-hour hostage standoff with a gunman played out at a Texas synagogue. I know many friends and relatives who fear attacks when they go to their synagogues, even here on the Northside of Chicago.”

Ald. Maria Hadden (49) tweeted, “We're excited Wild Onion Co-Op picked Rogers Park as their home! On Saturday, they announced they signed a 10-year lease for the building at 7007 N. Clark. Construction is set to begin this spring with an opening planned for late 2022 or early 2023.”
