Ald. Sophia King (4) tweeted “Happy Black History Month! We see this month as an opportunity to celebrate black excellence and pay tribute to the generations of African-Americans who struggled through adversity to receive full citizenship in the United States. We honor you and continue the fight for justice”  

Ald. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa (35) shared a Tribune article and tweeted “After serving time for what is no longer a crime, Amy Blobaum continues to be punished. Punishment does not equal public safety. Punishment does not prevent crime or violence. We need a justice system based on restoration, not punishment.”
