Gov. JB Pritzker signed new abortion protections into law Wednesday, including a measure that codifies emergency abortions as Illinois Democrats remain skeptical the federal protection will survive the conservative Supreme Court.

People returning to society from prison will receive free IDs from the Secretary of State’s office in hopes of jump starting their new life under a law signed by Gov. JB Pritzker on Tuesday.

Gov. JB Pritzker signed nearly 60 news laws over the last week, including long-awaited reform to the state’s biometric privacy law, a bill to eliminate the statewide grocery tax and changes to the state’s name, image and likeness law.

Illinois has new child labor laws that are designed to make the laws compatible with the 21st century world. The new laws also come as other states have rolled back child labor laws.

Workers at multiple Illinois manufacturing facilities have faced layoffs in recent months and Gov. JB Pritzker is calling on the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates to help businesses facing new economic struggles. 

The Democratic National Convention begins in Chicago on Aug. 19.   

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) will use 200 influencers to share the convention’s message by giving the social media personalities access equal to traditional journalists.

United Airlines will become the first airline to use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at O’Hare International Airport and take advantage of tax credits offered by the state of Illinois for reducing carbon emissions in its use of jet fuel.

Gov. JB Pritzker signed the Illinois AFL-CIO’s top legislative priority into law on Wednesday to ban “captive audience” meetings where employees are required to sit through work meetings that discuss the politics and religion of their employer.
