A permanent Tax Increment Financing (TIF) surplus lifeline for Chicago Public Schools is on Tuesday’s Finance Committee agenda–it’s backed by the Chicago Teachers Union and an overwhelming majority of aldermen, but the ordinance, first introduced in July, has only had subject matter hearings so far, and the sponsor’s office says it won’t be up for a vote. Ald. George Cardenas (12) and supporters still plan on holding a press conference in support, though.

Opponents of an ordinance to ease working conditions for pharmacists are also expected during today’s meeting, as are Office of Budget and Management officials, who have been called to outline federal grant funds at risk because of Chicago’s status as a sanctuary city.
