Mayor Lori Lightfoot's administration announced the first three dates and locations for its "interactive budget forums" in August: a 10 a.m. session on Aug. 7 at XS Tennis at 5336 S. State St., a 6 p.m. session on Aug. 11 at Malcolm X College on the Near West Side and a 6 p.m. session on Aug. 12 at Truman College in Uptown.
The Cook County Department of Public Health will issue new masking guidance on Friday in response to the Centers for Disease Control changing its classification for Cook County to indicate there is “substantial” community transition of COVID-19. “We strongly recommend that everyone follow the CDC recommendations and we will be issuing a new masking guidance tomorrow,” Cook County Department of Public Health co-lead Rachel Rubin wrote in a statement Thursday. “The Delta variant is the strongest version of COVID-19 yet and we must contain it through both vaccinations and prevention measures such as mask wearing indoors and in crowded outdoor settings.”
Chicago Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin announced a series of financial literacy events she will host throughout the month of August, starting with “Planning Your Financial Journey” at 12 p.m. next Wednesday. She will also host events called “Retirement Planning 101” at 12 p.m. Aug. 11 and “Small Business 101” at 12 p.m. Aug. 17.
