Mayor Lori Lightfoot and the city’s Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection on Wednesday awarded $2 million in grants to 18 community and economic development organizations to help small businesses in “activating” their storefronts, according to a news release from Lightfoot’s office. The grants are meant to support new art and pop-up businesses in corridors hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic.
